Pinup Photograph

Emily displays her versatility in this mix of art nude and pinup photograph. She exhibits graceful athleticism by posing inside a rigid frame.

Her pose and exhibited personality strike a balance between playful and thoughtful. Her legs create a deliberate straight diagonal through one corner of the box. Her toes are pointed, continuing the line of her leg. The bold line from her toes to her hips unites the composition by anchoring the upper left corner. Her hands anchor the opposite corner, creating a sense of balance in the static, yet tension-filled design.

The stable, square-within-a-square arrangement is disrupted by her body, which zig-zags through the perpendicular and parallel arrangement. The thin lines of the frame appear imposing in contrast to the tones and shape of the body.

Warm shadows and soft highlights accentuate depth in this pinup photograph. The predominant tones of rose-tan and golden hues are soothing and inviting.

While pin-up photography can be either clothed or partially nude, in this variation, the subject is nude. The term “pin-up” generally refers to a style of photography that features attractive models in a variety of poses and situations, often with a playful or seductive theme. Although some pin-up photography is intended to be suggestive or erotic, this examples is more modest and whimsical.

This imposingly large fine art print will be a show stopper as the centerpiece of any room in your home. Produced from a medium format camera, it exhibits stunning detail in the face and hair when examined up close. Other parts of the body are deemphasized with softer focus, drawing the eye back to the face and hair. The range of details can be seen by viewing each of the provided images and fully zooming in.

From a limited edition of 3 archival photographs, and one artist’s proof.
