A nude woman reclines peacefully within an oversized, teal hammock. Colorful floral blooms and floating bubbles bring an unexpected vibrancy and pulse to this captivating art photograph.

Composition

The composition relies on a number of visual elements, including depth of space, strong geometric shapes, and vibrant colors. The general structure of the artwork is a series of borders around the central figure. The use of color employs complementary hues to set a vibrant mood to a static subject.

The dark-turquoise hammock forms the central structure and dominates the scene. The long edges of the fabric move in concave arcs. These lines are echoed in the curves that bow inward toward the figure. There is a horizontal symmetry between the left and right halves, which mirror one another. At the top and bottom, straight white lines repeat at a regular interval. Each top edge also contains a diagonal wooden bar. The top and bottom borders also mirror one another.

Rendered in warm tones, the main character’s form emerges boldly from the cool-hued backdrop of the fabric. The fabric borders her on all sides, except where her arm interrupts this arrangement by extending to the hammock’s edge. Her fingertips barely grip the edge for support.

The flowers on the left and right provide a burst of color in an unexpected space, implying that the floral pattern might continue extensively beyond this focused scene. The bright red, orange, and yellow blooms are fiery against the muted green foliage and lawn. These hot-colored edges contrast with the cool teal fabric in the center.

The majority of compositional elements reside near the plane where the subject lies in the curve of the hammock. The foreground in between her and the viewer is filled with soap bubbles. These iridescent spheres appear in various sizes as they appear to float upward toward us. The irregular repetition of this shape adds a diverse element to the image. The bubbles interrupt the otherwise flat graphical representation of the scene, imparting a sense of spontaneity and movement that amplifies the mood set by the colors.

Theme

The design blends strong geometric lines, contrasting colors, and fluid movement, as well as warm and cool colors, to create a dynamic, energetic scene. This balance between symmetry and spontaneity, set within a visually harmonious framework, evokes both calm and playfulness and a vivid depiction of serenity.

In this fine art photograph, a nude woman floats on her back in a swimming pool. The artwork has a joyous spirit to it. She extends her body into the water, barely framed by the curved stone edge of the pool at the base of the image, and overhanging blooms cap the image. These top and bottom edge elements are angled in opposite directions, imparting a sense of movement. Her shadow creates a sense of depth.

The color palette is dominated by somber teal water. The crisp, golden tones of the figure are echoed in the baked clay color of the hardscaping near her foot. Greenery at the top complements the range of hues, and are punctuated by a few violet flowers. The dominant texture is the rippling web of reflections in the expanse of water around the figure.

In addition to this art photograph’s casual setting is an undeniable sensuality. The principal subject is unabashed and minimally obscured in her nudity.

Concentric rings of light ripple around a floating figure in this contemporary art photograph. The artwork depicts a moment from a peaceful narrative. Shadows and texture play a strong role in defining the composition and leading the viewer’s eye.

We see the instant after she has pushed off from the edge of the pool. She is now entering, physically and metaphorically, a free floating state. Her ears are visibly submerged and her eyes are closed. Not only is she shut off from the world around her, this is reinforce by the inclusion of the pool edge and the foliage at the top of the composition. These elements illustrate concept of her being close to, but disconnected from, the world around her.

The protagonist in this narrative seems to be in a state of nirvana. Her pose seems effortless and intentional. Her mood is serene and detached.

Shadows play a role in defining the proportions of the space. The shadow of the swimmer connects to the shadow of the pool’s edge, a flashback to the recent moment when she departed from it. Shadows on the pool floor complete the border of green leaves and purple flowers along the top edge of the scene.

Although there is little movement implied, a variety of elements set up visual tension in the artwork. The main figure is off-center in the composition. She is closer to the bottom than the top edge, drawing attention to her departure from the pool’s edge and creating a sense of chronological narrative. Her body is angled, with her head left of center. Only below her knees is her body right of center.

Her bent elbows bracket her head, drawing attention to her face. Her hair drifts outward in two distinct plumes, one behind each hand. Around her neck is a ball-chain necklace holding a silver pentagram pendant.

Myriad patterns add interest throughout the artwork. The ripples and reflections on the water, as seen from overhead, are the most prominent of these. The intricate texture of leaves at the top is punctuated by small purple flowers. As the various elements compete for attention, they create a sense of visual tension.

In this limited-edition art photograph, a solitary, nude woman lies on her side, arching backward around several metal spheres. Her arms reach overhead and her legs extend with toes pointed. We view this presentation from above, as if we are flying over the scene.

Composition

Her outermost fingers and toes point toward the upper left and lower left corners of the composition. Her body is devoid of adornment or attire except for a choker: a black velvet ribbon clasped at the front of her neck with a silver valentine heart.

Surrounding the main subject are five mirrored spheres. She clutches one silvery globe; the other four lie on the floor behind her.

The largest of these globes rests near the sharpest bend of her back, its mirrored surface distorting the reflection of most of her body. Barely discernible, it is a side of her only visible from this tiny view. Between the large sphere and her back, an area of negative space fills with shadow.

The remaining three objects are arranged in a semi-circular orbit around the large sphere, helping to balance the composition by filling the empty space between her hand and foot. The remainder of the scene to the lower right is blank, filled only with subtle shadowing.

Although the spheres are small compared to the shape of the figure, they stand out due to their metallic surface. Their nature as shiny objects grants them a special allure that naturally draws the eye.

This affordable image from an overhead vantage point is ready to fit into a standard frame and sized to display in just about any space.

Considerations

Featuring over 16 inspiring women, Vantage Overhead is a figure photography photo book of 100 art images taken from a distinct overhead viewpoint. Each photo’s aerial perspective presents the viewer with a visual curiosity.

From this distinct viewing angle, the series depicts nude women in an eclectic range of poses, accentuating their flexible figures through the use of props, and deliberate framing. Rendered in vivid colors, the photos strike a balance between idealized and realistic, situating them within the longstanding artistic tradition of depicting the feminine figure.

Every photo’s aerial perspective presents the viewer with a visual paradox—unlike grounded observers, we’re granted the sensation of divine viewpoint over each scene. This physical distance allows us to witness arrangements we normally couldn’t at eye level.

To continue to evolve and be creative as an artist means giving oneself new challenges. Sometimes, these challenges mean imposing new rules on oneself, or changing the creative approach altogether. Vantage Overhead is one such approach, requiring a new way of composing. For the artist, it means starting over, exploring various possibilities (often through trial and error), and discovering new things.

The unexpected overhead viewpoint can dispel preconceptions and provide an arresting image. The bird’s-eye aesthetic also allows for more stylized presentations that highlight each model’s unique attributes. Colorful accessories infuse liveliness into the photos, directing our attention toward their bold focal points. Usually expressing sensuality, the women in this series are captivatingly resilient and autonomous. Their nakedness amidst an array of belongings, including the occasional article of clothing, is an expression of continued vigor.

In an overhead view, a woman lays, isolated on a large sheet. A pillow props her head up. She looks to the side. She’s either looking at something off of the bed or she’s giving an empty stare, lost in thought. This art nude photography contains several key elements in its sparse composition.

The major compositional elements of this art nude photography are the woman and the vast expanse of negative (less-detailed) space around her. The negative space consists of the white sheet and pillow. There is a texture of folds and wrinkles that surrounds her. Smaller points of interest are scattered through the scene.

The sheet and pillow have a slight blue cast to them, although some warm shadows are also present. Additional textures can be found in light goosebumps on her body and the scrap of newspaper near her foot.

Her body is mostly symmetrical. She is centered, however her figure is slightly out of alignment with the vertical edges of the image. A bent leg also helps break the symmetry. The image is neither overt nor concealing in its presentation of her nude form. For the uninitiated, however, the plain presentation of the unclothed body in art nude photography may be unexpected.

The small details that are apparent upon closer inspection begin with the phone she holds in her hands. The phone is the darkest object in this high-key scene. She loosely clutches it to her sternum with one hand on top of the other. Hands are a natural point of interest which often give a clue as to a character’s intentions or thoughts. In this case, her relaxed hands indicate she is no longer concerned with her phone, perhaps having set it down while drifting into contemplation.

Around her neck are two silver chains. One strand holds silver stars. The other is a crucifix, barely discernible at its size and angle, resting on her jugular. Her eyes are dramatically outlined with thick eyelashes. Her nails are trim and painted with a french tip manicure. Her toenails, in contrast, are a deep rose color.

Near her outstretched leg is a scrap of newspaper. The paper is torn, a quarter page ripped from its context, one might assume for the purpose of retaining a specific piece of information. The content of the paper, is illegible. The narrow column headings suggest this might be a classified advertising section. The inclusion of a phone and newspaper in the same image suggests a particular time period when both were prominent in people’s daily lives.

The protagonist’s expression and mood are difficult to read. She appears content, seemingly she is comfortable and wants for nothing in a material sense. However, she seems lost in thought and disconnected from the present moment. The overhead perspective gives the feeling of a narrative rather than any kind of personal interaction with the subject.

This photograph has a unique overhead perspective as a key element in displaying the two nude women. A large number of elements make up this composition. There are two nude figures, an array of fruit, a grocery bag, and an intricately patterned floor. The women lay in opposite directions, facing up. One woman lays on her back, legs crossed at the ankle. The other one lays inverted from our point of view with her body twisted onto her hip, and one leg bent over the otters. Although both subjects have their legs crossed, the overall mood is not modest.

One could summarize this artwork as common elements, including two nude figures, depicted in an unexpected way.

The primary activity in this image is the nude woman throwing an orange in the direction of the viewer. The orange is depicted mid-air, close enough that it appears similar in size to her head. In her other hand she holds a brown paper grocery bag.

The grocery bag is nearly universally iconic. Although a plain brown paper bag is perhaps something we rarely see, cultures across the world recognize it and have used it for over a century. The bag adds context and helps transform this collection of items and actions into a narrative. These are all common items that are connected by context. The exact story being told is cryptic and ambiguous. Viewers receive clues, yet the general concept of this nude photograph is clear. These are not simply a few fruits, the floor is a domestic setting, these are items from the day’s shopping.

Concepts

Creative nude photography seeks to create an artwork that not only communicates the artist’s main concepts, but also captivates the viewer. A successful art photograph will keep the viewer returning to contemplate what they’ve seen, and investigate the image for any details or ideas they may have missed.

Amidst the array of contextual clues, one of the women wears a small antique key on a ball chain around her neck. One can speculate their own theories as to any relationship between this symbol and the rest of the image.

The color palette is overwhelmingly warm tones of brown, peach, orange, and creamy off-white. The colors of the floor and bodies dominate the scene. The three oranges provide bright points of interest, however these tend to blend with the the green apples stand out against the myriad warm colors. Without these points of green, the other tones might get lost without this point of reference.

This is art photography depicting a nude woman laying on her back, seen from an overhead vantage. She bends one leg over the other, her ankle crossing her opposite thigh. She is surrounded by a chaotic array of patterns and items. Around her neck is a shiny silver necklace of tiny star-shaped charms. For sale from the artist’s studio.

The floor, a retro tile pattern of brown and orange, serves as a backdrop. The floor appears to be vinyl with a simulated tile arrangement of orange and browns with. Running through the center of the image is a vertical red stripe, a red carpet runner. Red velvet ropes and stanchions are scattered around the red carpet, giving the atmosphere of the aftermath of an out-of-control party.

Reinforcing the feeling of chaos is the off-center nature of the composition. The red runner, although aligned with the vertical edges of the frame is shifted to the right. The margin of floor at the right of the image is twice that of the left margin. The stanchions are pushed to one side, along with the velvet ropes.

In her hand she holds a green bottle that appears to hold alcoholic spirits. The positioning of the green glass makes the image somewhat more modest, yet the translucent nature of the glass means she is not entirely obscured. With her other arm, she reaches off the carpet; it is the only part of her body that extends beyond the red swath.

She looks as if she is about to loft the green container into the air. A steel cocktail shaker is already airborne, traveling up toward the viewer. Three additional glass bottles and martini glass lay on the floor near her.

This and all other art nude photography for sale directly from artist Aaron Knight is signed and numbered by the artist.

Composition

The composition is simple, consisting of two interlaced figures and a featureless floor backdrop. There is no horizon or background; only a few shadows give us a sense of the shallow space. The women’s bodies are tightly cropped in the horizontal image frame.

The color palette of the image consists of warm tones, from a pastel yellow to peachy skin tones and brown hair. The textures of the image are the skin of the two figures, their hair, and the smooth background.

Theme

The negative space surrounding the figures is occupied only by their shadows. In places, the edges of the bodies almost blend into the surrounding yellow background. The overall color scheme is analogous (using adjacent hues rather than contrasting ones.) The predominant colors allude to cinnamon bark, terra cotta, and other earthy tones. This helps to set the relaxed mood of the artwork.

Large art photography can make a big impact in your home. Measuring 40 inches/102 cm on the long edge, this artwork will likely occupy 50 inches/127 cm on your wall after you mat and frame it. While almost any wall can accommodate a piece like this, larger walls are often transformed with a series of similarly sized large horizontal images.

In this original conceptual nude are a 1980s style vinyl floor pattern of oranges and browns, a single protagonist, a scrap of newspaper, an orange plaid skirt, and an orange shirt. She gazes upward, in the direction of the viewer, but apparently unaware of being observed, not unlike a character in a movie.

Her expression is pleasant and unconnected, almost as if she is daydreaming. One could make a connection to the lifeless smile of a barbie doll. The image certainly contains as much humor as it does pinup.

This image contains elements of nostalgia, parody, mixed with a sincere goal of intriguing and satisfying visual design. The eccentric pinup theme is inviting of contemplation and discussion.

The orange tank top is balled up near her shoulder. It’s not immediately obvious that this garment is a shirt.

The protagonist’s eyes are bold and she stares upward as we stare down upon her. Her expression is pleasant but bordering on neutral, frozen in an almost lifeless state, like a Barbie doll or centerfold. In this way, she evokes the mystique of a stereotype of female pinups: blonde, blue-eyed, alluring, and ever-congenial. The static nature of the image mades the message more odd than a simple pinup, though. She is at rest on the floor, with no explanation of the purpose or choice of the props that surround her.

The newspaper suggests several things. It is an antiquated medium. It appears to be classified listings, perhaps a marketplace of job openings and second hand goods for sale. Either of these would represent some sort of transition in life. But the words are illegible, leaving us only to guess.

This original conceptual nude bids to caricature the pinup genre as much as it does to celebrate it.

A whimsical take on pinup nude photography, this original art photograph depicts a female figure as seen from overhead. She lays on her back, looking up with a pleasant, far-away expression. On her abdomen is a Movieflex motion picture camera, encased in seven liters of lemon gelatin. The floor harkens back decades, as does the home movie camera.

This bizarre combination of a vintage German movie camera, a woman in a pinup pose, a chilled dessert, and a backdrop of gaudy vinyl flooring leaves us to ponder a variety of absurd mysteries. Why is the camera in the gelatin; is it a themed treat for a party? Is the figure intended as a serving platter, perhaps an ironic send-up of the pinup genre? If this is so well choreographed, where is the table? Or did she slip on the slick floor while taking the treat to the couch and land in this pose, expressing delight at the absurdity of the event? Perhaps we’ll never know, as she has yet to respond to our hand-written letters requesting the full explanation.

Her pose is fixed and symmetrical, imparting an odd mannequin-like look.

This peculiar visual story is told from a perspective of being directly overhead and looking straight down. Looking straight down at the floor is an immediately obvious distinction. In addition to the visual novelty, this angle of view has the narrative effect of showing us the entire scene of the woman and her immediate surroundings. The lack of depth at this point of view limits our knowledge of her surroundings. This takes away any context of whether she is in a domestic kitchen, a diner, or a shop.

The color palette of this composition is heavily dominated by warm tones of orange, tan, and brown. The lightest and brights of these colors include her golden hair, and the yellow gelatin. The darkest tones include the shadows around her figure and the grout lines in the vinyl floor pattern. The nostalgic patterns and colors place the time period of the image decades into the past.

The protagonist’s figure is angled diagonally across the frame. Her feet are extended, toes pointed, emphasizing her outstretched legs.
