A muse lies outstretched on a grand piano, her fingers exploring the keys. Musical instruments play a special part in our memories for many of us, taking us back to childhood and pivotal moments in our lives. In this visual presentation, the appearance of a musical instrument ushers in the auditory and tactile senses.

The nude woman’s hair extends from the top of the piano to the keys. Her dark strands frame her face and set it apart from the rest of her body, as well as providing a border between her face and the inky background.

The composition is high in contrast and consists of three main horizontal divisions. Foremost of these horizontal regions is the keyboard. One arm and leg extend nearly parallel, into the left half of the image. These two limbs interrupt the darkness and capture the viewer’s attention.

The black curtain behind an onstage piano cordons off a microcosm for the brief interlude of a visual concert in our otherwise cacophonic world. I can’t think of anything more fitting to top this majestic instrument than a kindred lover of music. The title is a whimsical mash-up of the predecessor name of the piano and the Italian word for “nude.”
