Black and white photography

Building on the tradition of black and white nude photography, Aaron Knight employs a technique that uses faint hints of color throughout the image to impart either warm or cool tones. These subtle adjustments to highlights, shadows, and midtones helps convey an emotional impact. In an homage to traditional methods, the artist employs a tonal alteration technique that goes beyond ordinary monochrome toning.

Knight’s take on black and white is far from a straightforward monochromatic technique. Although very close to black and white photography, this process uses hints of warm and cool colors to set a mood. Aaron Knight begins with a camera, then uses graphics processing. Although he transforms the colors with software, the process requires human input, often requiring several hours to achieve the desired effect in each part of a given image.
