Signed original black and white photograph for sale

This original black and white photograph uses a low-light and toned effect to depict a nude woman on a billiards table. A hip and shoulder are prominent as the back view leaves most of this subject shrouded in mystery.

The curve of her higher shoulder repeats the shape of her raised hip. The lights above her follow a similar approach of presenting twin shapes.

The appearance of low-light is conveyed through the use of shadow, inclusion of the overhead lamps, and chiefly the blurring of certain elements that is reminiscent of a moving camera, or perhaps an impaired viewer. Tracers of light can be seen in some highlights.

Feminine shoes add a touch of eroticism and the dimly-lit game table imparts a feeling of reckless mischief. Certain textured areas of the image, such as the wood grain and hair, remain sharply rendered.

The colors of this original black and white photograph are restrained to a few hues. The highlights glow in a pale amber. The shadows are a murky gray-green. The palette avoids intense or vibrant chromas.

Two glowing orbs above the woman are the brightest points of the composition. Light rims the contours of her body. The rest of the room fades into a shadowy vignette.

Vertical lines add structure to the background of this original black and white photograph. The pool cues stacked at the upper left corner provide both context and pattern. At the edges of the window, the vertical elements of the frame are more prominent than the horizontal ones.

The thick wooden slab beneath the woman is the only dominant, straight horizontal line. Her hair drapes over the edge, disrupting this line.

The subjects two hands lightly gripping the edge add an intriguing element. Hands in an artwork often signal intention. The placement of her fingers suggest her hands have not quite come to rest.

Additional details in the inky shadows invite prolonged exploration of the artwork. Below the platform on which she lies, ornamentation, in the form of cross designs inlaid in the wood, is visible. These two crosses are another example of paired shapes repeated in the image.

A similarly dark and understated piece of erotic fine art photography by Aaron Knight is “Thaumaturgy”. Another original fine art nude black and white photograph is “Fille dans une ombre feuillue”.
