In her other hand, the kinetic composition is balanced by an oversized handbag that is a spectacle in itself. Iridescent pink adorns the front of the plush bag that is outfitted in pink fur and trimmed in faux animal hide. Her feet are laced inside vinyl high heel boots that have rhinestones recessed in the platform soles. Matching pink laces echo the leach in the upper half of the image.
With her shoulders back and body arched, she exudes confidence. Her stride amplifies the swagger of the moment. She looks off into the distance at something unseen, apparently unconcerned with her immediate surroundings.
This composition recalls many aspects of classic pinup, which has then been taken to an extreme. It is a forthright statement in it’s presentation of nudity, with little left to the viewers imagination. Additionally, instead of a light and airy setting, the statuesque nude is set against a somber, dark backdrop. Far from incendiary, this image seeks to amuse rather than provoke. The subject is plainly in on the joke, gazing upward, feigning a lack of guile. Her jet-black hair is another defiance of the stereotypical pinup that this composition caricatures.
The edges of this photograph are darkened, creating a vignette to draw the viewer toward the center of the artwork.
