This surrealist art nude photograph employs a straightforward, graphical style. A pinup-style nude is presented in a classic, frontal pose.

Statuesque, curvaceous, fair skinned, flaming hair, are the ways to describe this figure. She rises from the opening of an unnaturally black seashell, overlooking an ocean horizon. The image is bisected by this horizon, which coincides with the top of the shell. The shell forms an arc against the blue backdrop of ocean and sky. Lines radiate through the shell, leading the eye back to the figure.

A single cloud hovers over her shoulder. Squinting in the bright sun, wind blows her hair as she diffidently returns the viewer’s stare. The mood of this image stands between modest and explicit. There is no fig leaf. However, her posture borders on apprehensive.

Her legs are disposed to cross, arms ready to cover. Her mood seems frozen in transition; although it is not clear if she will next recede into the shell or rise from it, the whimsical palette spins a narrative of beginnings.

The shell serves as a metaphor in the narrative. As in Sandro Botticelli’s famous painting, The Birth of Venus, it is suggestive of femininity. The goddess is intended to inspire both physical and emotional love.

Smooth paint-like blends depart from the traditional crispness of photography. This is especially evident in the implication of motion in the strands of hair. Throughout the body, the colors, and the way they are blended, resembles the effect of oil painting.

Countless hours have been spent constructing this surrealist art nude photograph. It can be purchased directly from the artist.
