This underwater photograph depicts a nude torso and limbs in a cascade of bubbles and light. The underwater pattern resembles polished stone. The impressionistic nude underwater photograph shows outstretched legs and feet and a torso below the shoulders. The swimmer is ascending, toes pointed behind her legs. Shrouded in the effects of the water, the treatment of subject is indirect with few discernible features. Her back is visible, adding to the feeling of anonymity and distance.

Adopting a grainy, impressionistic pattern of color daubs, the predominant hues of blue and green are mixed with some warmer amber colors which echo the peachy tones of the figure.

The initial impression of this composition can be shocking. The headless torso is a bit jarring to some, though there are multiple interpretations. Nonetheless, the overall visual elements are harmonious.

The technique employed for this impressionistic nude photograph is an elaborate mix of natural and artificial lighting. The lights are synchronized with an underwater camera by means of a fiber-optic cable.

Appropriately to its jarring nature, one artwork from this edition is owned by an art collector who is also a major Hollywood (horror genre) film director/writer/editor.

This limited edition archival photograph is ready to frame and hang on your wall. It measures two feet by three feet (61×91 cm) and has a horizontal orientation. It is hand signed and numbered in the front lower margin by the artist, Aaron Knight. The edition is limited to five total photographs.

Considerations

This image is a departure from Knight’s primary style. Throughout this artwork is a soft grainy/gritty effect. This effect is most pronounced in the corners. These aspects can be examined prior to purchase by fully zooming in on each preview.
