Classic art nude photograph

This is a photograph in the classic art nude tradition, with a woman performing with an element of theatricality. She swims energetically through brilliant light streaming from above. She acrobatically arches her body just under the surface of the water, legs bent, arms outstretched. Her flowing hair and flocks of bubbles emphasize this energetic composition.

The turbulent white reflections above contrasts with the serine expanse of blue that surrounds the swimmer. One can imagine her silent underwater world, weightless, and carefree.

Brilliant blue tones frame the delicate hues of the nude body. At a distance, the photograph appears as distinct forms. Under close observation, this image has a gentle, painterly effect with a subtle, nostalgic graininess.

The motif looks to the past for inspiration but is contemporary in it’s interpretation. At its base, this art nude photograph depicts communion with nature. Water is familiar to all and has been used symbolically throughout the history of art.

Three elements comprise this photographic composition: the nude figure, the underwater gradient, and the surface. The clear division between the surface and the water is a surrogate for the horizon of a landscape. The nude figure is central to the composition, framed by the expanse of blue.

Considerations

This image is a departure from Knight’s primary style. Throughout this artwork is a soft grainy/gritty effect. This effect is most pronounced in the corners. These aspects can be examined prior to purchase by fully zooming in on each preview. This image contains an intense blue that may be difficult to reproduce on some devices.
