Landscape figure photography

Landscape figure photography is nude artwork depicting the human body. In this black and white photograph, a nude woman is pictured at a shoreline. Her body glows brightly against the dark sand and patters of ripples. The composition contains a number of prominent elements. Thees design facets include a sloping horizon. a zig-zagging shoreline, the textures of sand and water, and the pose and affect of the primary subject.

The primary subject of this image is a nude woman laying on her back. Her legs from her knees to her feet are in the water and her body from her hips up rests on the sand. In this way, she bridges these two regions of the image. Her pose is sensual and blissful. She squints into the light of the setting sun as the last traces of heat charge her emotions. She has a dreamy, detached expression, indicative that she is lost in the sensation of the moment. Her lips are parted and the palm of her outstretched hand lays listlessly upward.

Grains of uncharacteristically dark sand are a distinctly visible foreground pattern in front of and near her body. Sand clings to her arms, ribcage, hips and the sides of her thighs and calves. The ripples and bubbles, foam, and ripples form a complex pattern at the lower right. This is distinct from the hazy pattern of waves in the distance.

A deep shadow under her body further defines her form against the sand. Long shadows project at an angle just past her body, disrupting the otherwise even pattern of sand as it recedes into a less-focused distance. The shapes and shadows of driftwood and sea grass further punctuate the background.

The sky at the top of the landscape figure photography is bright, nearly white. The horizon slopes downward to the right where the sand meets the water. Where the ocean meets the sky in the distance is a flat horizon. The crisp patterns fade quickly into an unsharp haze in the distance. The edge of the water zig-zags into the distance. This undulating line, the irregular horizon and other unexpected elements invite the eye to explore the scene at length.
