Underwater nude art photograph

This underwater nude art photograph features a glowing warm figure immersed in deep blue surrounds, and trailed by a rush of bubbles. Her entrance to the liquid world is imposing, with a confident explosion of energy. Her body is stark against the inky backdrop. The form includes well-defined highlights that transition to indigo shadows, following the direction of her body, emphasizing the implied motion.

Her figure is an iconic, idealized feminine form: lanky and curvaceous. Her arms are outstretched, searching, probing, blazing forward into foreign territory, represented at left by the darker portion of the photograph. A line of bubbles extends from her mouth and nose, helping us identify with the familiar experience of expelling lifegiving air so we may remain underwater longer. The feeling of being submerged can almost feel alien, and the desire to depart from the word above, relinquishing our dearest of necessities, is counterintuitive. Therein is the confidence portrayed by this nude freediver; defenseless yet undaunted in her ambition to indulge in adventure. It is in this way she makes herself at home underwater.

A gritty texture unifies this underwater nude art photograph of painterly lines and forms. Daubs of color fade into one another, imparting an impressionist feeling. The orbs of air rising from her head and legs form delicate abstract design of blues and grays. Each curve and ripple of water and air echoes the adjacent shapes. The surface is close above her, blending into the surrounding forms. Snowlike points of light accent the darker, deeper, left portion of the image. Long swaths of cyan balance the bottom portion of the composition, mirroring the sweeping lines of the swimmer’s body above them.

This image is a departure from Knight’s primary style. Throughout this artwork is a soft grainy/gritty effect. This effect is most pronounced in the corners. These aspects can be examined prior to purchase by fully zooming in on each preview.
