In this limited-edition art photograph, a nude female protagonist glides downward into the stunning cobalt water, her head and upper body nearly skimming the bottom and her legs extended behind her. The sunlight refracts through the crystalline water, dappling and striating the woman’s body and the floor and surrounding walls of the pool.
Composition
Her body forms an “X” with her outstretched arms and legs, which is mirrored by the “X” of her shadow on the pool floor. Her form is loosely centered in the composition, although she is captured slightly from the side. The cool azure water contrasts sharply with the subject’s warm skin and hair tones.
Her limbs are splayed but not flexed, suspended in the quiet water. Her toes are pointed and her fingers gracefully reach out. Her eyes are closed and her hair billows behind her head.
The bottom of the pool is highly patterned with sunlight refractions, lighter than the walls that curve up around her body. This natural vignette coaxes the eye back to the center of the image, as do the woman’s radiating limbs.
Theme
No bubbles are emitted from her mouth or nose; she is in an ephemeral state before breathing has become urgent. She soaks in her weightlessness in the silence of the deep. The impossibility of remaining indefinitely submerged contrasts with the permanence of the photograph.
A soft grainy effect lends the artwork a timeless feel and emphasizes the fleetingness of the scene. It provides some texture to an otherwise smooth pool surface and the heroine’s sleek skin.
Although the subject is nude, the scene is neither erotic nor explicit. It is a celebration of the female form without being overtly sensual.

Considerations
This image is a departure from Knight’s primary style. Throughout this artwork is a soft grainy/gritty effect. This effect is most pronounced in the corners. These aspects can be examined prior to purchase by fully zooming in on each preview.
