A nimble acrobat leaps across our view, suspended in formless space. The billowing of her hair confirms her explosive movement. With her head turned, jubilance is apparent in her face. Her fingers are outstretched and her leg kicks back as she propels herself. Her gesture visibly communicates her spirited mood.

A canvas-like vertical grain pattern permeates the dusty pink hues of this image. The colors meander between gritty pinks and yellows, with the nude body defined by burnt-sienna and her hair in a vivid mahogany. The lines and forms blend with this pronounced texture, leaving some details undefined. The interplay between background and subject is a series of curved lines, defined by the soft shadows on her limbs and torso.

“If eyes were made for seeing, then beauty is its own excuse for being.”—Ralph Waldo Emerson
