Aaron Knight Art Photography from 2015
Twenty fifteen was the year art photographer Aaron Knight became a full time artist. Much Knight’s body of work from that year depicts the female form in industrial spaces using a dense palette of grays and muted earth tones. A strong sense of playfulness runs throughout the series, with particular attention to how bodies contrast with the rigid geometry of gritty warehouse environments.
This year’s collection sees a focus on direction light in large, open interiors. Natural light dramatically illuminates vivid figures against muted backdrops of concrete and steel. Additionally, a number of black and white artworks emphasize form and shadow over palette.
Nude figures in motion appear in Knight’s seminal year. His first nude swimmer artwork, blowing cloth or paper, and dancers leaping are some examples of these kinetic photographs.
A lone time-lapse nude image is notable. An image of a woman seated on an amplifier with a Stratocaster guitar foreshadows a musical theme of coming years.
