International Orders

Art shipping destinations

Art photography originates in the United States and can be shipped to most countries. A few countries are embargoed by the United States government or excluded for logistical reasons, which will be indicated before checkout if no shipping options are available for your address.

The art photography of Aaron Knight is for sale internationally through this site, aaronknightgallery.com, and a network of international art dealers. To date, the artist’s studio has shipped fine art nude photography to art collectors in over a dozen countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, as well as the majority of US States.

Autographed photo books and albums have been shipped all over the world, too. Artwork, photo books, and albums ship from the United States.

Do I have to pay VAT on imported art?

For international orders, you may have to pick up your shipment at the post office and pay import duties or taxes. International duties and taxes vary by destination and are not included. If your country charges VAT, you will likely have to pay VAT when you import an art photograph.

For assistance, get in touch before your order.

Neither the artist nor private couriers can circumvent customs fees or other elements of processing required by your country. You may need to appear in person to claim your package and pay customs fees or you may be able to do this online. Packages that are unclaimed by the recipient, whether because of unpaid customs duties or another reason, will be returned by your country’s customs agency and shipping costs may not be refunded.

Many countries, especially in the European Union, do not charge any tariff duty on the importation of art photography (defined as photographs taken by the artist, printed by him or under his supervision, signed and numbered and limited to 30 copies, all sizes and mounts included.)

How can importing be made easier?

When shipped internationally, Aaron Knight’s photographs are accompanied by a customs declaration, to aid in getting you the most preferable import cost, whether that is duty-free and/or reduced VAT under the harmonized tariff code, as applicable to your location.

If you want to pre-pay import taxes, a courier such as FedEx or DHL can facilitate this for you. The courier will estimate customs duties, and assess any additional amount or refund due at the time of delivery. The easiest way to do this is if you use your own courier account for shipping.

Choose “Duty Prepaid + Expedited” at checkout for the easiest shipping option. This convenient method is also the most expensive. Art will be delivered directly to your address via DHL, UPS, or FedEx all with one payment at the time of checkout.

Your courier account: convenient delivery and payment. Send your (FedEx/UPS/DHL) account number for shipping, duties, and tax. Use the code: billrecipientshipping if you are providing a shipping account number. You will need to provide details promptly after ordering to ensure timely shipping.

How much are taxes?

Many countries greatly reduce the VAT for photography of this type (for example, 5% instead of 20%, in past experience.)

Import tariffs and VAT (value added tax) on photographic artwork vary by country but are typically 5% to 12% of the purchase price in the EU and UK. Coming from the US, published prices do not include VAT. For example, recent UK customers report 5% VAT and zero tariffs on artwork. If you are unfamiliar with your import duties, please research or inquire prior to purchase.

International shipping times

International delivery times depend on location. Items are shipped via first class package service, priority mail, or priority mail express depending on the size and value of the package. Many locations in Western Europe receive packages in 3-5 business days, although a wide variety of variables can cause delays. Shipping to Australia is typically lengthy, and an upgrade to express service is recommended.
